Western Nevada County Slo-Pitch Softball Association Re-Grades and Re-Seeds Litton Field

Grass Valley, CA – March 16, 2026 – The Western Nevada County Slo-Pitch Softball Association (WNCSSA) is excited to announce that Litton Field has undergone a major upgrade in anticipation of the Spring of 2026 Softball Season.

The use of Litton Field has been generously donated by Charlie Litton for over 30 years. Charlie Litton and his family work with the WNCSSA continuously to support our organization and provide a playing field for our communities use. The maintenance of the field is the responsibility of the WNCSSA, and the Board of the WNCSSA decided to allocate some funds in 2026 to the major upgrade of the field surface in the offseason.

Commissioner Sam Warmerdam, the Fastpitch Representative, Wes Cross, Secretary Jordan Greenman, and WNCSSA player Thomas Greenman have improved the sprinkler system and bases and tilled up the existing outfield grass and removed much of the unusable soil. In March of 2026, the WNCSSA retained Glen Parman Excavating again to rework the soil in the entire infield and outfield. JW Enterprises then compacted, regraded and smoothed the entire outfield to a level playing surface in preparation for hydroseeding.

On March 16, 2026, Trevor with Selby’s Soil Erosion Control hydroseeded the entire outfield. The turf grass that was installed should be ready for play on or around May 18th. This will delay our use of Litton Field in Spring Season of 2026, however, we believe it will make a world of difference in the player experience.
